Due Diligence
Screening Matrix
What is the production technology?
The facilities use controlled slow pyrolysis to convert rice husk into biochar, recovering syngas for process heat and bio-oil as a liquid co-product.
What is the current scale?
Combined biomass processing capacity of ~100 tonnes per day, equivalent to approximately 25,000 tonnes per year under a 250-day operating assumption (~7,500 t/yr biochar).
What feedstock is used?
Exclusively rice husk agricultural residue. The project does not rely on deforestation, land conversion or purpose-grown energy crops.
Where does it come from?
Partner rice mills in Odisha, primarily located within short transport distances (approximately 5–20 km) via direct pipeline and road haulage.
What is the carbon removal pathway?
Rice husk converted into stable biochar through controlled pyrolysis and subsequently applied to regional agricultural soils for permanent storage.
What durability standard is targeted?
Follows the Isometric - Biochar Storage in Soil Environments v1.3 and targets the 200-year durability tier under Project ID: Isometric 6PQZ.
How is carbon removal monitored?
Captured through automated telemetry integrated with digital MRV systems: feed rate, reactor temperatures, biochar output, and process conditions.
Where is the biochar used?
Biochar is intended exclusively for agricultural soil application, directly or incorporated into MatiBoost™ soil-amendment products.
Does the project displace communities?
No. The project does not cause displacement of communities. Both facilities are situated on industrial mill leaseholds with zero land conflict.
